The mission of East Texas Charter School is to help students discover who they are while guiding them into becoming more than they thought they could be. East Texas Charter serves approximately 140 students in grades 9-12. We operate as a tuition free, public school under the direction of the Texas Education Agency. Among the sports offered are cross country, golf, tennis and track. Other ways to become involved include UIL academics and our community service outreach program. Hallsville ISD is located in the western part of Harrison County, some seven miles east of Longview and thirteen miles west of Marshall on U.S. Hwy. 80. HISD has five (5) brick and mortar campuses servicing approximately 4,800 students. A third elementary school is under construction and is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2022. HISD also operates a virtual academy (TVAH) that services approximately 10,000 students across the state of Texas. Hallsville ISD and every campus in Hallsville ISD are currently rated as Met Standard from the Texas Education Agency and continues the academic excellence that has been a hallmark of this school district for decades. Longview Independent School District is the largest and most comprehensive district around, with more than 8,400 students and 1,400 staffers. The district offers unparalleled academic and extracurricular opportunities for students from K-12, and is one of the few school districts in the country to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme. LISD is building the biggest Montessori School in the state. Longview High School offers more Pre-AP and Advanced Placement courses than any other school in the area, allowing students to earn college credit. Founded in 1982, the educators at Longview Christian School strive to assist Christian families with the training of their children by pursuing excellence in faith and education. The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center is home to one of the top nursing programs in the region. BSN students attend traditional face-to-face courses on the Longview campus, which are taught by full-time, fully accredited, on-site faculty members. Industrial technology is the LUC’s newest program and is one of only two accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering in the State of Texas.
