The mission of East Texas Charter School is to help students discover who they are while guiding them into becoming more than they thought they could be. East Texas Charter serves approximately 140 students in grades 9-12. We operate as a tuition free, public school under the direction of the Texas Education Agency. Among the sports offered are cross country, golf, tennis and track. Other ways to become involved include UIL academics and our community service outreach program. Hallsville ISD is located in the western part of Harrison County, some seven miles east of Longview and thirteen miles west of Marshall on U.S. Hwy. 80. HISD has five (5) brick and mortar campuses servicing approximately 4,800 students. A third elementary school is under construction and is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2022. HISD also operates a virtual academy (TVAH) that services approximately 10,000 students across the state of Texas. Hallsville ISD and every campus in Hallsville ISD are currently rated as Met Standard from the Texas Education Agency and continues the academic excellence that has been a hallmark of this school district for decades. Hallsville ISD is the only district in Texas recognized by Solution Tree as a Model PLC District. Four of the district’s campuses have also been individually recognized as Model PLC campuses. The district was named the #22 school district in the state of Texas in the Niche Report.
Longview Independent School District is the largest and most comprehensive district around, with more than 8,400 students and 1,400 staffers. The district offers unparalleled academic and extracurricular opportunities for students from K-12, and is one of the few school districts in the country to offer the International Baccalaureate Programme. LISD is building the biggest Montessori School in the state. Longview High School offers more Pre-AP and Advanced Placement courses than any other school in the area, allowing students to earn college credit. Each year, the district sees an increase in National Merit, GLOBE, and Advanced Placement Scholars.

The Cambridge Preparatory School is a private school and ministry of Life Church of Longview. Cambridge offers a rigorous, Christ-centered academic curriculum taught from a Biblical worldview. Our Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4, Pre-K5 classes learn by participating in hands-on experiences from a research-based curriculum that covers early literacy, handwriting, math, science, social studies, and the Bible. Our early learners program serves as a bridge for children who, in essence, need the gift of time. This time is necessary to absorb and express ideas, learn about friendships, assert independence, and examine the world around them. Our learning program consists of Guided Reading and Daily 5 literacy programs, handwriting, math, science, and social studies.
Christian Heritage School was founded upon a tradition of Christian beliefs. Its mission is to provide excellence in classical, Christ-centered, college preparatory education while working together with the home to develop within all students the ability to reason Biblically while equipping them to fulfill their God-given calling in life. We serve 275 students in grades K4-12 and offer a variety of activities in the fine arts, including chorale and strings; as well as sports, including basketball, baseball, football, soccer, tennis, and golf. Founded in 1982, the educators at Longview Christian School strive to assist Christian families with the training of their children by pursuing excellence in faith and education. LCS offers a traditional K-12 educational program with athletics, fine arts, and drama, all taught from a Biblical worldview. LCS also offers an Early Learning Center for children 6 weeks – Pre-K. The campus consists of separate buildings for upper and lower grades, a gym/workout facility, a band hall, a library, and a cafeteria.
The Oak Forest Montessori School was established in 1981 and offers a year round program for students eight weeks through Kindergarten. An after school program for Kindergarten through fifth grade area public school students is also available. The Montessori environment has been designed to accommodate students of all levels of ability. Each classroom is equipped with an array of sequential materials to be used as tools in learning. The advantages of individualized instruction are enhanced by curriculum that includes math, language and phonics, sensorial exercises, and practical life activities. Children also receive instruction in motor skills, art history, geography, botany, and science. OFMS maintains its accreditation through Cognia, formerly known as AdvancED SACS CASI, and all guides are held to the highest standards.
East Texas Baptist University is connecting students to their passion and equipping them for their purpose. Through faith-based academics (including 45+ undergraduate, and 14 graduate programs), student organizations, club sports, and NCAA Division III athletics, ETBU Tigers are challenged to reach their greatest potential. The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center is home to one of the top nursing programs in the region. BSN students attend traditional face-to-face courses on the Longview campus, which are taught by full-time, fully accredited, on-site faculty members. Industrial technology is the LUC’s newest program and is one of only two accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering in the State of Texas. In addition, the criminal justice program continues to prepare students for a dynamic career in a wide-ranging and growing field.
